Gillian Fuller’s inspiration comes mainly from the environment, particularly a city environment and its architectural shapes. Her interest in the Bauhaus and Art Deco, as well as the African environment, are also contributing factors.

Gillian graduated with a Fine Art degree from Newcastle University, UK, and specialised in textile design. After moving to South Africa, she became aware of the local skill of beading. So from textile design to beadwork design, a highly successful combination ensued. The result is a range of beaded jewellery, fabrics and paper prints.

We cast the spotlight on her poignantly beaded cuffs. Each depicting a sense of place in evocations of structure vis a vis natural surroundings. Each a storied ornamental art piece.
